Course Outline
This first aid course aims to provide the first aider with greater confidence as the casualty may be isolated from professional help for some hours. The course provides a solid practical and theoretical base from which to apply appropriate first aid procedures, including emergency life support and accident management when medical aid is not readily available and needs to be maintained for an extended period.
The course is designed for people who work and travel regularly in remote areas such as bushwalkers, 4WD enthusiasts, outdoor/adventure instructors & guides or people who live in remote locations.
This qualification remains current for three years, during which time a recertification course must be completed.
This training is suitable for any person 14 years and above; students under 18 years of age must provide written permissions from their parent of guardian.

Prerequisites
HLTFA301B Apply First Aid or recognised equivalent, achieved within the last 3 years
Due to the practical components of the course, participants are advised to wear comfortable casual attire. Appropriate outdoor/ remote area clothing it to be worn for the outdoor activities.

Observation and practical assessment, written project work, scenarios - problem solving
