Course Outline
This course offers learners the opportunity to achieve competence and confidence in the performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in a safe, supportive and non-confrontational environment.
It is suitable for any persons 14 years and above. Students under 18 years must provide written permission from their parents or guardians.
Course Subjects
- Legal issues in First Aid
- Stress Management techniques
- Hygiene & Infection control in First Aid
- DRABCD Action plan including Incident approach and patient assessment
- Managing the unconscious casualty
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- The chain of survival
- Understand the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
Duration: Approx. 4 hours, starting at 9am
Assessment
Practical assessment with group interaction. Participants must demonstrate competency during a series of practical skills evaluation and verbal assessments including observation, questioning, and problem solving
